Art Omi has named gallerist and co-founder of the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) Zach Feuer as Director of The Fields Sculpture Park. “Art Omi has been as asset to my community for many years. I’m honored to be able to continue the good work done by predecessors to advance the goals of Omi,” said Feuer. “Working on exhibitions and the expansion at The Fields at Art Omi is a dream job. This institution maintains a culture which I have envied for years—a program with international reach that remains extremely accessible for all. The number of people served by the various initiatives at Omi is constantly inspiring. I hope to be able to expand on the work done before me, and to help grow Art Omi’s reach and continue the high level of programing provided here.”.

The Drawing Center, New York, 2018. Photograph by Martin Parsekian. Design moves forward through conversation, and residency programs tailored to design and craft-based disciplines play an instrumental role in nurturing that dialogue. Not only do these programs give participants the luxury of time and space to work away from their day-to-day lives, they also bring together creatives working in various disciplines from all over the world, creating an environment where each individual is pushed to expand their own practice in a relatively short amount of time. For those working in design, especially, having access to large studios and uncommon material processes offers a rare opportunity to refine their skills or even pursue new ones. Below, we gathered 11 leading residency programs that put design center stage. Francis Greenburger, founder and CEO of full-service real estate firm Time Equities Inc., hosted the 2017 Francis J.
Greenburger Awards, an event which aims to award and acknowledge contemporary artists who have not been fully recognized by the public, at New York City’s New Museum at 235 Bowery Street. The event was presented by Art Omi, a not-for-profit arts organization also founded by Greenburger, that provides resources for international visual artists, writers, musicians and dancers through funding, residences programs and other offerings. Winners at this year’s ceremony included Gary Lang, Ryszard Wasko, Judy Pfaff, Lorraine O’Grady and Barry Le Va. Real Estate Weekly.
